Canvas LMS

• Issue date: 27 Aug 2026

  Known Issue: Old-format audio embeds do not play on Classic Quizzes, Assignments and Discussions

  Audio that was embedded using an older Canvas Rich Content Editor (RCE) format does not play on Classic Quizzes, Assignments and Discussions, and instead shows a "Failed retrieving media sources" error.

  Known issue: Pages containing IP addresses in URLs will not save

  Pages containing text like "https://127.0.0.1/", will not save in Canvas. Canvas have stated that this is intentional and not a bug.

  Known issue: Embedded content is removed from Calendar events

  If staff embed content into a Calendar event description, that content disappears once the event is saved and will not be visible to anyone viewing the event.

  Known issue: Classic Quizzes Quiz Log does not show information about student responses

  When viewing individual questions in the Quiz Log for a Classic Quiz, no information is shown about the student's response activity for that question.

  Known issue: Subject imports do not warn staff about missing group sets

  When importing group assignments or group discussions between Canvas subjects, staff are not warned that the associated group sets are not included, which can result in students submitting before groups are configured.

  Known issue: RSS and Atom feeds can contain descriptions of unreleased assignments

  Students who configure an Atom feed from the subject main page are able to gain access to unpublished assignment descriptions.

  Known issue: Set Default Grade does not apply to all filtered sections

  When filtering the Gradebook to view multiple sections, setting a default grade will only apply to the latest section selected rather than all of the filtered sections.

  Known issue: When importing content into a Canvas subject, all items are imported when no content is selected

  When importing content from one Canvas LMS subject into another, all items are imported even when no content is specifically selected.

  Known issue: Turnitin AI download issue based on geographical location

  Users in mainland China may be unable to download the AI report. Users of the Classic Standard assignment may also encounter an issue where the score does not appear in the Classic Similarity Report.

  Discussion posts created whilst using the student view are not being removed after the reset student view button is pressed.

  Known issue: Students can download PDF of their responses when Speedgrader is selected as the marking tool for Cadmus

  When Speedgrader is selected as the preferred marking tool for a Cadmus exam, students will be able to obtain a PDF copy of their submission even after the exam has ended, and this option will remain available to them for as long as they have access to the subject.

  A fix has been applied to allow updating submission types in an assignment after submissions have been received.

  Known issue: Subjects require manual resync to update Section enrolments

  We have encountered an ongoing issue where Section enrolments are no longer updated if a subject's date settings have been edited. If this occurs, a manual resync must be applied to update Section enrolments from Allocate+.

  Known issue: Grades and comments can be overwritten or cleared when more than one person is marking in SpeedGrader

  When more than one person is grading, the submissions can be overwritten, leading to the loss of grades and comments.

  Known issue: Default grade for missing submissions needs to be set to 0

  For the Gradebook Total column to display a student’s overall grade accurately, the default grade for missing submissions needs to be set to 0.
