Known issue: RSS and Atom feeds can contain descriptions of unreleased assignments

Issue

Each Canvas subject has an RSS/Atom feed link that students can copy and follow using an RSS reader. This feed currently contains descriptions of unreleased assignments. Students who follow the feed may be able to obtain information about the unreleased Assignment from the Assignment descriptions field, even though this is not available via the Canvas web interface.

Status

Canvas is aware of this issue and currently investigating a solution.

Workaround

If the content of assignment descriptions are sensitive, it is recommended to leave this field blank until the assignment is ready to be released to the entire cohort. This prevents the RSS/Atom feed from revealing this information.
