Gradescope - Submitting your PDF assignment via Canvas app

This guide will teach you how to locate your PDF file and submit to Gradescope via the Canvas Student app on both iOS and Android devices.

iOS

  1. Open the Canvas Student application and login with your student username and password.
  2. Navigate to your Canvas LMS subject and click on Assignments in the subject navigation bar.

  1. Open the appropriate assignment and click on Launch External Tool.
  2. Click the Submit PDF icon.
  3. Click Select PDF.

  1. Select Browse (note: if you select the Take Photo or Video or Photo Library options, you will receive an Invalid File Extension error as the file types have not been specified as PDF).
  2. If you followed our guide on how to convert photos to PDF and saved your work to OneDrive, click on OneDrive under Locations. Select a different file location if you saved your PDF elsewhere.

Please make sure you are signed into the same account on the OneDrive application in order to locate your previously saved file.

  1. Click Upload PDF.

Important: After clicking Upload PDF a successful submission message may appear. If it does, check your student email to make sure you received an email confirmation of submission.

If you haven’t received a successful submission message, you are required to indicate on which pages of your PDF you answered each question. Continue with the following steps.

  1. You will be presented with the Assign Questions and Pages screen.
  2. Select a question in the Question Outline.
  3. Select the PDF page(s) that contains your answer for the selected question to assign the page(s) to the question.
  4. Once all pages have been assigned, click Submit.
  5. A confirmation message will appear, and you will receive an email confirmation to your student email.
  6. You can click on More and Resubmit to resubmit your assignment, if needed.

Android

  1. Open the Canvas Student application and login with your student username and password.
  2. Navigate to your Canvas LMS subject and click on Assignments in the subject navigation bar.
  3. Open the appropriate assignment and click on Launch External Tool.

  1. Click the Launch in Browser icon in the top right corner.
  2. If you are given the choice, select the browser you prefer. (Google Chrome is shown below)
  3. Click the Submit PDF icon.
  4. Click Select PDF.
  5. Select Documents/Files.
  6. The file should be located in your Recent files. However if not, you can press the Three Lines to open the menu.
  7. Navigate to your OneDrive (or other cloud storage app)through the menu.
  8. Select your desired PDF to upload.

  1. Click Upload PDF.
