Checking your internet speed

If you're experiencing difficulties loading web pages, patchy Zoom calls, or videos are constantly buffering, these are signs your internet connection is struggling. While there could be various reasons, one of the best places to begin troubleshooting is by checking your internet connection speed.

Check your internet and broadband speed using one of the following options.

speedtest.net fast.com

You will be directed to an external website

Results of a speed test are displayed in Mbps (megabits per second), with the higher the number, the faster the internet connection. If your speed test results show your internet speed is below a certain threshold, such as 15 Mbps, you will begin to experience interruptions while streaming video content, and downloading large files may take some time. As a minimum, we recommend a stable and reliable internet connection with speeds above around 8Mbps. Below this and you may also experience buffering or slow loading times when browsing websites and the LMS.

Please note that your internet connection speed will vary based on the time of day, number of devices connected, and many other factors.
