Zoom and Lecture Capture (EchoVideo) integration
The University of Melbourne provides an integration between Zoom and Lecture Capture (EchoVideo) to simplify the recording and delivery of online teaching content. This integration ensures that all Zoom recordings that are made to the Cloud are securely stored and automatically available in your EchoVideo library.
Teaching staff can find a copy of their cloud-recorded Zoom meetings in their personal EchoVideo library. All recordings are privately stored in the EchoVideo system and can be shared to students and colleagues within the LMS or by uploading directly into Lecture Capture.
All Zoom meetings that have been recorded to the Cloud are automatically deleted from Zoom after 60 days. This Zoom/EchoVideo integration allows a copy of the recordings to be safely stored in the EchoVideo system past 60 days.
To ensure this feature works for you, please ensure that you have:
- Logged into Zoom using SSO. This is your University of Melbourne account.
- ‘Record to Cloud’ enabled. In your Zoom settings, select the Cloud option instead of ‘Record to this computer’ during your meeting.
- It is recommended that you set all meetings to record to the Cloud by default. Refer to the recording, accessing and sharing Zoom recordings guide for more information on how to do this.
- ‘Record active speaker with shared screen’ enabled. In your Zoom settings under Recording, check that this box has been ticked. EchoVideo cannot ingest audio-only Zoom recordings. With this option enabled, you can still keep all cameras off during the meeting. The recording will only highlight the profile picture of the active speaker.
Note: Please ensure that live captioning for your Zoom meeting has been turned on for accessibility compliance purposes. For more information on how to do this, refer to the Zoom meetings and live transcription guide.

Tip: Pause the recording during your Zoom meeting instead of stopping and re-starting the recording to ensure the entire meeting is uploaded as one event.
