Feature update: Student Annotation submission

In the 15 May Canvas release, a new assignment submission type called Student Annotation appears, when creating or editing assignments. This option will enable teaching staff to upload a file as part of the assignment which students can then individually annotate and submit directly in the LMS.

This new feature eliminates the need for students to either print the file for manual annotation and upload, or use a third-party tool to complete the submission. However, LMS Group Assignments do not support student annotation, which means that each student will be making an individual submission of their annotation.

Staff are advised to contact Learning Environments before creating a ‘student annotation’ assignment for further information.
