What is Slack?

Slack is a channel based communication platform. It is a standalone application that is currently not linked with the University’s single sign-on (SSO). This means your University username and password is not linked to Slack.

Signing up to Slack

Eligible staff can create a Slack account via an invitation from Learning Environments. Please follow the prompts in the email to complete the sign-up process.

Accessing Slack

You can access Slack from a web browser or from the Slack app. We recommend using the app. Download the Slack app for your device:

If you do not have permissions to install apps on your University computer, request assistance from the IT service desk on (03) 8344 0888 and ask them to install it for you.

Slack Channels

Channels in Slack are where conversations and discussions regarding relevant topics take place.

The main channel used is frg_lms.
