Exam process overview
Each step of the exam process explained, with links to relevant guides that provide additional details. The precise dates for each step will change with each exam round and can be found in Staff Hub.

Exam portal opens
SASS Exam Support will send an email to faculties when the Exam Portal opens. It will remain open for about two weeks. Usually around Week 3.

Exam portal closes
Any late exam requests that are received after the deadline will be managed within faculties.
- Step 3

Draft exams timetable released for feedback
Subject coordinators will have 3 business days after the draft exam timetable is released to provide feedback about their scheduled exam date and time. Usually around Week 7.

Exam timetable locked
The exam timetable is locked and can no longer be changed. Usually around Week 8.

Exam paper submission portal opens
SASS Exam Support will send an email with links and deadlines for the exam paper submission form and cover sheet submission form. Submit a PDF version of the exam in the exam paper submission form.

Exam timetable published
Students are notified of the date(s) and time(s) that their exam will be taking place via student communications (eg email). Usually around Week 10.

Deadline for all exam paper/reference materials and exam cover sheets
If the submission deadlines are not met, exam papers will not be printed or scanned, and faculties will need to print their own exam papers, which SASS Exam Support will deliver to faculties after the exam sessions.

Digital exam content upload deadlines
All content for on-campus digital exams must be added to the digital exam shells at least a week before the exam takes place.

Digital health checks
A digital health check determines if your exam is ready for delivery. SASS Exam Support checks the status of your digital exam, double checks that all back-end settings have been applied correctly and identifies any outstanding issues or errors.

Exams start
SASS Exam Support will host the exam sitting per the examinations timetable. For exams that have opted out of scanning, papers will be delivered physically following the exam session.

Scanning
Completed exam papers will be collected, scanned and processed.

Subject Coordinators and the nominated delegate will be notified within 3 business days of their exam date when the exam is ready for marking in Gradescope.
