Resolved issue: Timed posts in LMS announcements are dispatched immediately after editing

If a user edits an existing timed released announcement (Available from), the announcement will be dispatched as a notification email immediately after saving.

Issue

When a user attempts to edit an existing timed announcement the item will be sent as a notification email immediately after saving, regardless of the Available from settings. In most instances, all Subject users who have elected to receive notifications will be notified of the announcement within minutes of the announcement being saved.

Note: Once an Announcement has been sent, it will not automatically send a notification again, even if the time is altered a second time. However, every edit will trigger an immediate notification event.

Status

This issue was resolved by the vendor on 12 August 2024. If you are still experiencing this issue, please let us know by submitting a support request.

Workaround

The immediate dispatch of the notification can be prevented if the Available from setting is altered before saving. This may require the user to edit the Announcement twice, to return it the correct time. eg. If an Announcement was Available from 23/7/2024 1PM, change to 2PM and save. Edit the item a second time, changing it back to 1PM and saving once more.
