Feature release: Microsoft Immersive Reader

Canvas is trialing Microsoft's Immersive Reader to enhance the reading experience by improving accessibility and boosting reading comprehension. Navigate to the Pages area in your Subject and select Immersive Reader in the top right corner to try it out!

You can use Microsoft Immersive Reader to manage text, grammar, and reading preferences, hear the page text read aloud, and adjust audio & voice settings.

Note: The Microsoft Immersive Reader is being offered in Canvas as a trial feature. Currently, it can only be used with content pages. It is not supported for in Assignments, Discussions, Quizzes, and Announcements.

There is no firm commitment around how long it will be available. Having made it available back in October last year, Canvas is gathering customer feedback around it's usefulness before confirming a long-term rollout plan.
