    1. Go to your subject in the LMS.
    2. Click on Subject Tools under Subject Management.
    3. Click on Turnitin Assignments.
    4. Click on your Turnitin assignment.
    5. Click on Roster Sync on the top right hand corner just above the student list.

  • LMS enrolment issues

Marked as resolved: 22 July 2017

    Issue

In Semester 1 2017, the LMS experienced issues with the accuracy of enrolment changes in LMS. This disruption to enrolment data is due to integration issues between StudentOne, the Enterprise Integration Service and the LMS. Despite the efforts of multiple teams, there continues to be delays in getting the fixed code implemented, largely due to the complexities of what is involved and trying to assure new automated activities introduced will not damage the student experience.

Update: Some students temporarily lost access to subjects on the LMS on the 23rd of March 2017 between 10:20am-12:20pm. This was due to underlying ongoing works concerning the synching of enrolment data between the LMS and StudentOne. If students identify that they were directly disadvantaged by this temporary removal (e.g. they were disrupted during or just prior to undertaking or submitting an assessment), we do have a log of the students affected and are able to verify any claims. We apologise for the inconvenience caused. If you have further queries on this, please contact us by submitting a support request.

    Workaround

We are continuing to resolve reports of enrolment inconsistencies on a case-by-case basis as logged through our support form.

  • Tests attempts record the started date and time and submitted date and time as the same

Marked as resolved: 22 July 2017

    Issue

When staff view a student’s attempt on a test, the times in ’start date’ and ‘submit date’ are recorded incorrectly as identical. The incorrect time recorded reflects the student’s start time for the attempt of the test.

Similarly, when students view their feedback on a test, the start date and time and finish date and time are identical and reflect the time the student started the test.

The vendor has advised this issue will be resolved when we next upgrade the LMS.

    Workaround

For staff: Find the Grade Centre column associated with the test, click the down arrow next to column name, and select ‘View Grade History’. The date and time of the grade history entry (first column) for a given student’s submission is the correct submitted time for that student.

For students: If the correct submitted time is needed for a given test, contact the staff member in the subject who can find the correct submitted times using the steps above.

  • Draft submission message in Turnitin when due date of assignment has passed

Marked as resolved: 22 July 2017

    Issue

When clicking on the blue grading pencil after the due date, a message appears: "This is a draft submission. Any and all marks will be deleted when or if the paper is resubmitted."

This message should only appear to graders before the due date. This is an intermittent issue with some setups of Turnitin Assignments. The message is incorrect as the student is unable to re-submit after the due date.

    Workaround

Click OK to continue and grade assignments as per normal. You may also enter Feedback Studio by clicking on the assignment title or similarity score instead of the blue grading pencil to avoid the message.

  • Hot Spot questions not able to be clicked

Marked as resolved: 22 July 2017

    Issue

When answering a Hot Spot question, the X does not display where the cursor was clicked. This issue is encountered when the page zoom is greater or less than 100% while using Internet Explorer and Chrome.

    Workaround

Staff should advise students to return the browser zoom to 100% before answering Hot Spot questions or use Firefox when attempting tests that contain Hot Spot questions.

  • Incorrect date shown in Last Access column

Marked as resolved: 23 May 2017

    Issue

In the Grade Centre, the ‘Last Access’ column should display the date that the student last accessed a subject or community.  The Performance Dashboard also has a ‘Last Subject Access’ column which displays the same data.  Currently, these columns are not always updating to correctly reflect when a student last accessed a subject or community.

The vendor has advised this issue will be resolved when we next upgrade the LMS.

    Workaround

To get an accurate indication of when a student last accessed a subject, staff can run a report. The report will show the correct last access date.

    1. Go to: Control Panel >> Evaluation >> Subject Reports.
    2. Run the report ‘All user activity inside content areas’ by clicking the down arrow next to the report name and selecting ‘Run’.
    3. Change the ‘start date’ on the report to reflect the start of the period under review.
    4. In the ‘Select users’ box select the student you are reviewing. You can use the CTRL key to select multiple students.
    5. Click ‘Submit’ to run the report. Note: depending on the number of students selected this report can take some time to run.
    6. Click ‘Download Report’ to view the report in a separate tab which you can save if you wish.

  • Changing names of Groups retains old name for active wikis/blogs/journals/podcast feeds

Marked as resolved: 09 December 2016

    Original issue

Once you have created groups and made blogs, wikis or podcast feeds based on those groups, if any group member accessed the group while it had the old name, then the group tool will continue to display the old name to students when they access it now. Staff will see the new group name in the active assignment area, but when they open the tool the old name will be displayed.

    Workaround

Avoid changing any group names once students have been allowed to access the tools.

  • Subject reports issue

Marked as resolved: 09 December 2016

    Original issue

Subject reports are not currently working as expected and will return a blank report if it is run against a large number of students. Blackboard engineers are aware of this issue and it will be fixed in a future update.

    Workaround

Run subject reports in small batches of less than 20 users.

  • New SlideShare mashups cannot be viewed

Marked as resolved: 05 December 2016

    Original issue

When a staff member creates a SlideShare presentation the 'Watch presentation' link greys out the screen, rather than showing the presentation.

    Workaround

When adding a SlideShare presentation, choose 'Embed Presentation' from the View dropdown list instead of 'Thumbnail'.

  • Announcement emails do not display the sender's address

Marked as resolved: 05 December 2016

    Original issue

LMS Announcements that are emailed to the members of a subject or community will show 'do-not-reply@its.unimelb.edu.au' as the sender address.

Recipients can reply to these emails. After clicking reply, the correct sender's address will be shown.

    Workaround

If it is important that the announcement emails show the sender's name, emails can be sent from the Send Email tool in the LMS and the same text can be pasted into an Announcement.

  • Pasting text in Firefox

Marked as resolved: 05 December 2016

    Original issue

Users are unable to copy (ctrl-c) and paste (ctrl-v) content within Firefox in the visual text box editor.

    Workarounds

    1. Paste the text into another program, like a text editor, then copy it again from that program and paste it into the Content Editor; or
    2. Use a different browser; or
    3. Make changes to the advanced configuration in Firefox:
      1. Open Firefox.
      2. Type about:config into the address bar.
      3. Search for 'dom.event.clipboardevents.enabled'.
      4. Double click the search result item to toggle value from 'true' to 'false'.

  • Test results do not display in some browsers

Marked as resolved: 05 December 2016

    Original issue

When a student completes a test and clicks OK, the test results should display. When the test has been set to open in a new page, in some browsers nothing happens when clicking OK. Affected browsers are some versions of Chrome, Safari and Internet Explorer. Firefox works correctly.

    Workaround

Return to the Test or Click on My Grades to view the test results, or use a Firefox browser.

  • Assignments need to be made unavailable during marking

Marked as resolved: 05 December 2016

    Original issue

If an assignment remains available to students while marking, even if the grade centre column has been hidden, students will be able to see the assignment feedback.

    Workaround

Make the assignment unavailable (Edit Assignment or Adaptive Release) until marking is complete and the grades/feedback is to be released to students. Grade Centre column will also have to be unhidden to enable students to see their grade.
