Lecture Capture - Q&A discussions

The Lecture Capture Q&A feature allows staff and students to engage in discussions relating to your recordings and presentations

The Lecture Capture system has an optional Question and Answer (Q&A) feature that enables both you and your students to post questions, respond, add comments and engage in discussions relating to your teaching material.

There are several ways to utilise the Q&A discussions feature before, during and after a class. Some aspects to note about this tool include:

  • As a staff member, you can ask questions and post answers or comments to further understanding of your Lecture Capture recordings and teaching material.
  • Students can ask you questions and engage in discussions during or after the lecture about specific slides.
  • Staff and students can endorse or 'like' a question, without necessarily responding to it.
  • Students can post their questions "anonymously" to maintain privacy with student peers. Note, as a staff member, you can see the source of all anonymous questions.

Enable the Q&A feature

  1. Click the Lecture Capture link within your LMS subject to access the Lecture Capture system.
  2. Click on the Settings tab. This will display the settings for your course.
  3. Click on the Features sub-tab, then select the toggle button to enable Q&A.
  4. You will prompted with a message, "Warning! Are you sure you want to enable Q&A?". Click OK to confirm switching on Q&A.
    1. Note that this feature can be disabled in the same manner. The Q&A functionality disappears once you toggle it off, but the recorded information is stored in the database. All stored information will reappear once the feature is turned back on.
